Description: This study examines the petrogenetic processes behind magmatism in the Levant Magmatic Province (LMP), an early Cretaceous, intra-continental volcanic region with no clear association with extension or asthenospheric upwelling. Focusing on the erosional cirque of Makhtesh Ramon, a region with exceptional petrological and geochemical diversity, we sampled the local basaltic sequence and integrated olivine-hosted melt inclusion microanalyses with whole-rock and glass geochemistry. Our results highlight the role of small-degree mantle melting, lower crustal magma storage, and a heterogeneous mantle source modified by carbonate-rich fluids, offering new insights into the origins of alkaline magmatism in the region.
