Approximated estimates for the share of gross final consumption of renewable energy sources

Description: The most recent recast of the EU Renewable Energy Directive (EU/2023/2413) sets a legally binding, minimum 42.5% target for the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in the EU's gross final energy consumption by 2030, with an aspirational goal of reaching 45%. For transport, it sets a minimum 29% RES share by 2030, or a minimum 14.5% reduction in the greenhouse gas emission intensity of transport by 2030, with specific sub-mandates for advanced biofuels and renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs).
