Description: Die Beschäftigungsentwicklung in den größten deutschen Agglomerationsräumen verläuft zwischen den Kernstädten und dem Umland sehr unterschiedlich zugunsten der Ränder. Die zentrale Fragestellung dieser Forschungsarbeit wird sein, ob die Zwischenstadt - die Ränder - dabei eine eigenständige ökonomische Dynamik entfaltet und ob es stimmt, dass sich die Wachstumsdynamik von der Stadt auf das Umland verlagert. Oder handelt es sich um ein Wachstum aus zweiter Hand, eine Entwicklung, die in Abhängigkeit von der Kernstadt zu sehen ist. Untersucht wird, wie die Arbeitsplätze in die Arbeits- und Lebensverhältnisse und die Landschaft der Zwischenstadt eingebettet sind und ob diese ökonomischen, technischen, sozialen und kulturellen Einbettungsformen in Kernstadt und Umland unterschiedlich sind. Anhand von quantitativ-statistischen Analysen sowie qualitativen Erhebungen in Form von Expertengesprächen mit zentralen Akteuren der Wirtschafts- und Arbeitsstättenentwicklung werden diese Fragen geklärt.

Title: The contribution of work and the economy regarding structural change of areas between cities (within the framework of the research group 'Intercity' in the context of the European city region - qualification of the citified landscape/ landscaped city
Description: The employment development in the largest German agglomeration rooms ends between the town centres and the surrounding area very differently in favour of the edges. The central question of this research work will be whether the intermediate city - the edges - develops thereby its own economic dynamic and whether it is correct that the dynamics of growth of the city shift on the surrounding area. Or it concerns a growth second hand, a development, which is to be seen dependent on the town centre. It is examined, like the jobs into the work and living conditions and the landscape of the intermediate city is embedded and whether these economic, technical, social and cultural embedding form in town centre and surrounding area are different. On the basis of quantitative-statistical analyses as well as qualitative surveys in the form of experts' meetings with central actors of the economic and place of work development are clarified these questions.
