Identification Keys for Conditions Predisposing Forest Ecosystems, Rich with Norway Spruce, to Environmental and Biological Damage

Description: Science-based keys for the identification of site and stand conditions, causing increased risks of damage, and for the evaluation of these risks, are generated from literature data and own data, obtained from preceded interdisciplinary case studies. Several environmental factors as well as bark beetles and defoliator species on spruce are considered as agents potentially causing damage. An award-penalty-point system will be applied and a computerized version should be provided for the practical use. These keys are thought to serve as tools for the diagnostic and evaluating assessment of actual risks of damage, and for risk prediction, due to the patterns of forest ecosystem dynamics.
