Description: Searching for indicators of an increased risk of epidemics, the dependence of spruce sawfly (Cephalcia, Pristiphora) outbreaks on site conditions, air pollution impact, nutritional conditions, and natural enemy effects, is investigated. Interactions in the food chains of the pests, due to stress-causing influences of the environment on the ecosystem, are specifically considered. The results are thought to build the basis of a risk assessment system for forest management.
