Description: Objective: Aims to demonstrate a sugar beet convection dryer that uses waste heat within a sugar refinery. Heat from evaporators, condensers and surplus steam is used to pre-heat ambient air entering the dryer. The dryer consists of several circular horizontal sieve plates which are fixed to a rotating shaft. This is contained by Asilo like structure. Air fed into the dryer is 70-90 degree of Celsius. The beet pulp is transferred from one plate to another to the base of the dryer. The process is 82 per cent more efficient, saving 1.28 t/h oil, about 2272 t/y oil. The process technology of this project is innovatory.
