Description: Das Projekt "Injector flows - Low Emission Levels by Engine Modeling" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Mercedes-Benz Group AG durchgeführt. Objective: Di-propulsed engines are known to be the most fuel efficient power source for transporting today. This leads to low emissions of CO2. Performance and emissions of Di-engines are highly affected by the mixture formation process and so by the injection system. As mirror changes of injector design have influence on mixture formation, the predictive power of modelling injector flow and spray formation is necessary to develop injectors optimised to future low consumption and low emission combustion concepts. Development of such models and of advanced diagnostic techniques for their verification is the goal of the project. It is part of the LEVEL cluster, also including projects focusing on gasoline engine (G-LEVERL) and diesel modelling. Close collaboration will take place within the cluster and all projects will support parallel EC funded engine development projects by providing tools for numerical simulation and for detailed experimental investigation. Prime Contractor: Daimler Chrysler AG, Forschung und Technologie 1, FT1/MV-G212 Verbrennungsmotorische Antriebe; Stuttgart; Germany.
