Description: Das Projekt "Nachhaltige Nutzung und Erhalt tropischer Kuestenoekosysteme in Mesoamerika (COSTA)" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Zentrum für Marine Tropenökologie an der Universität Bremen durchgeführt. Assess, then conceptualize and initiate graduate education and associated research programmes in tropical marine environmental sciences in order to strengthen the capacity of this field in Mesoamerica (Central america, Mexico, and the Caribbean) with emphasis on integrated coastal zone management. The programme should yield basic elements and infrastructure to allow cooperation between the universities of the network, knowledge about the various academic programs, planning of future inter-regional post-graduate programs and mutually acknowledged degrees (Masters and Doctorates), conduction of a pilot post-graduate course, and define structures and capacity for future associated research programmes of the network universities.
