Biogas Produktion aus landwirtschaftlichen Reststoffen in Europa (FARMAGAS)

Description: Ziel des FARMAGAS-Projektes ist es, die Verbreitung von anaerober Vergärung und Biogasproduktion in ausgewählten Ländern zu fördern, die hierzu ein hohes Potential bieten. Durch Wissenstransfer und eine Verbreitung von Know-how soll das Projekt dazu beitragen, die Anwendung von anaerober Vergärung von Abfällen aus der Landwirtschaft in Europäischen landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben zu erhöhen. FARMAGAS basiert im Wesentlichen auf den Ergebnissen des erfolgreich abgeschlossenen Collective Research-Projektes 'AGROBIOGAS', welches durch das 6te Europäische Rahmenprogramm gefördert wurde. Die Ergebnisse dieses EU-Projektes AGROBIOGAS sind u.a. Informationsmaterialien, Richtlinien und Datenbanken zum Nutzungspotential von landwirtschaftlichen Reststoffen und verschiedenen Anbaupflanzen für die Biogasproduktion. Die Nutzungs- und Verbreitungs-Aktivitäten im Rahmen des AGROBIOGAS-Projektes haben aus Kapazitätsgründen einige Regionen Europas ausgespart, die hierfür aber ein hohes Potential bieten, wie Rumänien, Ungarn und Polen. Aus diesem Grund bildet eine Kerngruppe der AGROBIOGAS-Partner zusammen mit interessierten Landwirtschaftsverbänden aus den Zielländern das Konsortium für FARMAGAS. Die Anwendungsländer im Projekt FARAMGAS zeichnen sich alle durch einen starken bis dominierenden landwirtschaftlichen Sektor aus, wohingegen die Biogasproduktion in diesen Ländern unter den niedrigsten in Europa ist. Das Projekt kann somit dazu beitragen, die Anwendung der Biogasproduktion aus landwirtschaftlichen Abfällen in diesen Ländern zu stärken und gleichzeitig die Abfallkonzepte von landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben zu verbessern. Das Konzept der anaeroben Vergärung von Reststoffen kann dabei Abfallbeseitigungsprobleme in eine Einkommensquelle umwandeln. Die Produkte und Ergebnisse des Projektes sollen in den Zielregionen als auch in weiteren EU-Ländern mit vergleichbaren landwirtschaftlichen Strukturen weiterverbreitet werden.

  Title: Biogas Production from Agricultural Wastes in European Farms (FARMAGAS)
  Description: The ttz Bremerhaven has been nominated for the 'Selected Landmarks 2010' with the EU-project FARMAGAS. Therewith it is a winner of the '365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas' contest which is carried out in co-operation of Deutschland-Standortinitiative and Deutsche Bank with the German President Horst Köhler as the Patron. The aim of the project is to support the dispersion of biogas production in highly potential countries. With the transfer of knowledge and the distribution of know-how FARMAGAS shall contribute to increase the utilization of waste and residues of the primary production in European agricultural farms. Especially the knowledge transfer to younger citizens will be focused on: Co-operations with schools will help to communicate the fundamentals of the biogas production in straightforward experiments. The FARMAGAS-project aims to promote the widespreading of anaerobic digestion and biogas production in specific high-potential countries by know-how dissemination and knowledge transfer in order to enhance anaerobic digestion of agricultural wastes in European farms. FARMAGAS is mainly based on the results of the successfully finished COLLECTIVE RESEARCH project funded by the 6th European Framework Programme called 'AGROBIOGAS'. The EU project AGROBIOGAS provided information, guidelines and databases to farmers about the potential of their agricultural wastes and different crops to produce biogas. As the dissemination and exploitation activities carried out in AGROBIOGAS were not covering some of the high-potential regions for biogas in Europe (Romania, Hungary and Poland), a group of key partners of AGROBIOGAS and interested farmers associations from this key countries form the consortium of FARMAGAS. These key countries are all characterized by a strong or even dominating agricultural sector whereas biogas-production is among the lowest in Europe. FARMAGAS therefore provides a solution to promote the use of biogas in these countries and as well to improve the local farming waste management. Thus, anaerobic digestion of residues can convert a disposal problem into a source of income.
