Description: Ziel des Vorhabens ist die Humanbiomonitoring-Analytik von GerES VI Proben. Es soll ein Metabolit des Benzo[a]pyren, als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter der Polyzyklischen aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffe (PAK), in 1500 Proben gemessen werden, da bisher keine bevölkerungsrepräsentativen Daten vorliegen. Die Bestimmung der inneren Belastung wird auch eine Korrelation zu B[a]P in Staubproben ermöglichen.

  Title: Human biomonitoring analysis for the German Environmental Study (GerES VI, 2023-24): benzo[a]pyrene
  Description: The aim of this project is to analyze samples from adults (aged 18-79) participating in GerES VI for the pollutant benzo[a]pyrene. Benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) is classified as carcinogenic (Category 1B) under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. Given its known adverse health effects, monitoring B[a]P exposure is particularly important. While B[a]P concentrations in ambient air are measured as an indicator of air quality in Germany and the EU, little is known about internal B[a]P exposure. Combined with data from participant questionnaires, these analyses will provide the first representative data on internal benzo[a]pyrene exposure among the population living in Germany.
