Description: The Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V. (NAM) is a major oil- and gas company which operates both onshore and offshore in the Netherlands. The organisational structure of NAM distinguishes one corporate Head Office and 6 Business Units. The Business Units carry a large degree of autonomy and independence with respect to the execution of exploration and exploitation activities. At the moment NAM is reviewing implications of extending their HSE management system to comply with external environmental management systems standards like EMAS and ISO 14001. Key objectives of the study are: - To assess the suitability of the EMAS and ISO 14001 standards in relation to the NAM organisational structure and current HSE management system as implemented in the BU's. - To assess the constraints and recommend a structure for the development and implementation of a certifiable management and performance system according to the EMAS regulation. - To propose a development programme detailing approach, key-issues and estimates for the required resources and timing.
