Description: The ice in polar ice caps experiences induced anisotropy. The polyorystel of hexagonal grains is subjected to strain and stress inhomogeneities, phase change processes that manifest themselfes in grain growth an boundary movement. Furthermore, imperities and air content affect the thermomechanical responce. This complicated process interaction will be accounted for in a theoretical model within a mixture theory of continuous diversity and the theoretical model will be applied to the ice of polar ice sheets.
