Native plants and symbiotic fungi in wind erosion control in the Kailash-Manasarovar region (Tibet, China)

Description: Our research project aims to combat wind erosion and desertification on the Tibetan Plateau. A new approach is applied - using native plants and associated symbiotic fungi - to improve the natural environment and, concomitant, human health. The field work is carried out by Swiss researchers in Darchen in collaboration with the Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute Mt. Kailash and the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE, CAS) in Chengdu. Experimental wind tunnel investigations are conducted in Davos (WSL/SLF).
