Description: Objective of the project was to investigate the feasibility of implementing integrated waste management and safe disposal systems as sustainable solutions to the waste problems in the least developed Asian countries, with special respect to the inherent socio-economic aspects, technological capability and the present needs of these countries. Six major cities of Bangladesh and the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, are considered as case study areas. The results are published in a comprehensive report (Alamgir et al. 2005).
