Title: Subproject: Metering service as a basic component of the energy transition
Description: JenErgieReal sees itself as a 'blueprint' for the future holistic supply of electrical and thermal energy as well as the integration of mobility as a link. In this context, the main drivers of energy consumption traffic, industry, commerce and housing are considered across sectors. As a real laboratory of the energy transition, JenErgieReal will address the systemic challenges essential for German energy policy in a clearly defined large-scale project in an exemplary manner and clarify the role of infrastructure operators in the energy transition process. JenErgieReal has pioneering character for the transformation of the energy system and is dedicated to research questions that play a key role in the implementation of the energy transition. The demonstration of the results takes place as a real laboratory in the city of Jena. The main goals of this subproject are the co-design, further development and integration of ICT infrastructures within buildings, which extend down to the room level of residential and commercial units. The focus is on expanding infrastructures within apartments that are essentially and simultaneously aligned with the objective needs of a demographically aging society and the requirements of effective sector coupling. These 'intelligent IT infrastructures', IITI, should be able to support multiple measurement and control processes and variable services as well as provide interfaces and communication, both between users and technical systems and also to the network of higher-level systems such as a virtual power plant.
