Title: Subproject: Biodiversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi of an intensively and an extensively farmed mountain meadow in the Thüringer Schiefergebirge (MYKO)
Description: An ecological study on the influence of herbivory and drought on plant-biodiversity of mountain meadows is performed in the German program on biodiversity BIOLOG. The diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) is investigated with molecular methods. Additionally, the transport of labelled 15N by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to the associated plants is studied. We study the diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi at intensively and extensively farmed meadows respectively characterized by a lower and a higher plant biodiversity. At the moment we compare the AM diversity based on different mycorrhizal structures in the soil (i.e. extraradical mycelia, spores, mycorrhizas in plant roots).
