Institut für angewandte Ökologie e.V..The main objective of Annex 7 is to study institutional change related to the deployment of smart grids. Annex 7 is intended to initiate an international, coordinated, transdisciplinary research effort that supports technology-oriented smart grid activities. Annex 7 also aims to gather information and knowledge from the fields of innovation studies, political science, institutional economics, sociology, and energy law and make it tangible for policy makers and other stakeholders. Annex 7 specifically aims to support smart grid policy makers by focusing on the direction, effectiveness, and efficiency of the transformation to an energy system based on renewable energy. To complement other ISGAN annexes, it focuses on non-technical aspects and frameworks conducive to smart grid deployment by addressing societal needs, political governance, policy, regulatory aspects, and human behavior, taking into account the different institutional structures and governance traditions of ISGAN countries.
