Description: Das Projekt "Entwicklung eines neuartigen Waermetransformators und Untersuchung der Anlagenkombination Waermetransformator-Absorptionswaermepumpe" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von GEA Luftkühlergesellschaft Happel, Hauptabteilung Forschung und Entwicklung durchgeführt. Objective/Aim: The aim of the project is to develop a new type of heat transformer operating with new agents and attaining considerably higher useful temperatures than the water-libr-heat transformer used at present (c. 150 c). It should also make possible a larger difference between waste heat and useful heat (up to now 40 to 50 k). The performance of this heat transformer will be monitored over a 9-month test period. At the same time a high-temperature absorption heat pump will be developed and tested. Then the two apparatuses will be combined to form a single unit, whose performance will be investigated extensively, with particular emphasis on its control action. General information/description: using the experience gained with the water-libr-heat transformer, a new type of heat transformer is to be developed based on more suitable agent systems. Rough calculations have already been carried out suggesting the following data for the heat transformer: evaporator temperature: 100 c; expeller final temperature: 100 c; condensation temperature: 38 c; absorption final temperature: 172 c; useful output: 20kw; input: 50kw. These calculations were based on use of the agents trifluoroethanol (tfe) and tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether; experience having been gained with these on a small experimental unit, they were chosen for both the above calculations and for later operation of the system. It is planned at a later stage to switch to other agents permitting absorption final temperatures of nearly 200 c to be attained. Likely candidates are: tfe - n-methyl pyrrolidone; tfe - pyrrolidone; tfe - isoquinoline and perhaps also: perfluoropropionic acid (pfpa)-dtg.
