Description: Das Projekt "Efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft engine" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von MTU Aero Engines AG durchgeführt. Objective: EEFAE Technology Platform consists of two vehicles involving 15 industrial companies, 2 research centres and 2 universities from 9 different European countries. These vehicles will be designed and tested to validate the results from a rang e of European, Nationally and company funded research projects with the overall objective of bringing demanding technical and environmental benefits to two different market sectors. This proposal will deliver a major contribution to the global environment through the reduction of CO2 (by 12-20 percent) and nitrous oxides (by up to 80 percent) into new pro ducts. By engaging all industrial capability in a co-ordinated programme, these technologies will be applied to both the wide body and narrow body aircraft mark et at the earliest opportunity- starting 2007/8. Owning the necessary technologies will provide commercial advantage; increase market share and employment in the European Aeronautical sector. This project is beyond the resources of any single European company or nation state. The combining together of resources and capabilities is essential to produce the critical mass required for the success of the project and ensure the investment is repaid via products that meet these goals in the market. Prime Contractor: Polls Royce PLC, Engineering and Technology Department; Dery; United Kingdom.
