Mobilization and transfer of heavy metals, including radionuclides, by mycorrhizas

Description: Mycorrhizal communities at different locations in the former uranium mining area Ronneburg (Thuringia) were analysed, using molecular methods for the identification of mycorrhizal fungi. Strains of the ectomycorrhizal fungus Amanita muscaria were isolated from the former mining area and are now tested for their heavy metal tolerance.
