Oekotourismus und Naturschutz in tropischen Waldgebieten

Description: Um der weiter fortschreitenden Zerstoerung/Degradierung der Tropenwaelder entgegenzuwirken, muss die effiziente Nutzung und vollstaendige Bewertung der Gueter und Leistungen, die Waelder bieten, verstaerkt gefoerdert werden. Ein Mittel hierzu ist nach Auffassung internationaler Organisationen (z.B. UNCED-Agenda 21, WWF, IUCN, IUFRO) sowie der Bundesregierung (Tropenwaldbericht 1993) die gezielte Foerderung des Oekotourismus und seine Integration in die Waldbewirtschaftung und Flaechennutzungsplanung. In diesem Ansatz werden Moeglichkeiten zur Verbesserung der Einkommens- und Arbeitsverhaeltnisse im laendlichen Raum, zur Foerderung des Umweltverstaendnisses und zur Erhoehung der wirtschaftlichen Attraktivitaet von Naturschutzvorhaben im Tropenwald gesehen. Ziele: Ueberpruefung und Entwicklung von Strategien und Richtlinien fuer eine touristische Nutzung von tropischen Waldgebieten. Voraussetzung hierfuer ist die Analyse und Klaerung der vielfaeltigen und dynamischen Wechselwirkungen zwischen dem Tourismus und der Regierungspolitik, Wirtschaft und Kultur der oertlichen Bevoelkerung einerseits.

  Title: Ecotourism and Nature Conservation in Tropical Forest Areas
  Description: In order to combat the rapidly accelerating rate of deforestation/degradation of tropical forests, the efficient utilisation and full valuation of the goods and services provided by forests has to be promoted more comprehensively. According to international organizations (UNCED-Agenda 21, WWF, IUCN, IUFRO) and the 'Tropical Forest Report' of the German Government, one means of increasing the production of goods and services is by promoting ecotourism and its integration into forest management and planning, thus helping to generate additional employment and rural income, create opportunities for environmental education and increase the economic attractiveness of conservation programs in tropical forests.
