Neunte Vertragsstaatenkonferenz des Übereinkommens über die Biologische Vielfalt

Description: Ecologic unterstützt das Bundesumweltministerium bei der Vorbereitung und thematischen Schwerpunktsetzung der 9. Vertragsstaatenkonferenz (COP 9) der Konvention zur Erhaltung der Biodiversität (Convention on Biological Diversity, CBD). Dabei gilt es einerseits, die Möglichkeiten der Bundesregierung als Gastgeberin und Vorsitzende von COP 9 auszuloten und einen erfolgreichen Verlauf und glaubwürdige Ergebnisse sicherzustellen. Andererseits bedarf es über das 2010 Ziel hinaus strategischer Weichenstellungen, die Probleme bei der Umsetzung der CBD konstruktiv anzufassen, realistische Ziele zu formulieren und für deren Erreichung zu sorgen. In diesem Zusammenhang wurde vom 13-15. Dezember in Potsdam ein Expertenworkshop mit 20 international erfahrenenen Teilnehmern durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse des Workshops sind in den Potsdam Recommendations zusammengefasst.

  Title: Ninth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity
  Description: Ecologic supports the German Federal Ministry of the Environment with the preparation of the ninth Conference of the Parties (COP 9) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), as well as with the setting of a thematic focus. This support consists first in identifying the opportunities the German State has as host and chair of the COP 9 to ensure a successful conference and credible results. Second, it is necessary to develop strategic positions beyond the 2010 target that will constructively address the problems of the implementation, to formulate realistic goals, and to ensure that they are achieved. Consequently, the project also considers the options available to the EU - Germany taking the EU presidency in the first half of 2007 - for giving new impulses and doing justice to its role as a precursor in the area of global environmental protection.
