Clusters of Excellence 80 (EXC): The Future Ocean, Ocean Acidification - CO2-induced Ocean Acidification: Biological Responses and Adaptions

Description: In the proposed project functional data in living cells in vitro will be generated in respect to the influence of CO2 and pH stress. The technology provided by medical physiology can cover a broad spectrum of investigations from homeostatic mechanisms in complex organisms, e.g. proton and ion transport in fish gills, to the cellular mechanisms of calcification in planktonic or benthic foraminifers. By close interaction of marine biogeochemistry and medical physiology scientific cogency and creativity will be secured within the project.
