Das Landesamt für Umwelt Rheinland-Pfalz betreibt im Auftrag des Ministerium für Klimaschutz, Umwelt, Energie und Mobilität (MKUEM) seit 1978 das Zentrale Immissionsmessnetz - ZIMEN - für Rheinland-Pfalz. Das ZIMEN besteht aus Messstationen, die von einer Messnetzzentrale in Mainz aus telemetrisch betreut werden. Der WMS stellt die Lage der Messstationen dar. Bei den kleinmaßstäbigen Gebietskarten handelt es sich überwiegend um thematische Karten, in denen einzelne Sachverhalte flächendeckend für eine Region oder das Land Rheinland-Pfalz besonders hervorgehoben sind. Je nach Thematik wird hiebei unterschieden in Übersichtskarten und Verwaltungskarten. Kleinmaßstäbige Übersichts- und Verwaltungskarten besitzen einen für die landesweite Darstellung optimierten Maßstab und eine entsprechende Signaturierung. Sie eignen sich hervorragend als Hintergrund für die Präsentation überregionaler Sachverhalte oder in Form von Geodatendiensten als Einstiegspunkt für die grafische Navigation in einem Internetportal.

Lärmmessstationen

Der Dienst stellt die permanenten Lärmmessstationen dar, die vom Landesamt für Umwelt (LfU) betrieben werden. Sichtbar ab einem Maßstab 1:25.000 oder kleiner.
