CO2 storage potential of the Middle Buntsandstein Subgroup - EEZ of the German North Sea

The CO2 storage potential of the Middle Buntsandstein Subgroup within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the German North Sea was analysed within the framework of the GEOSTOR-Project. A total of 71 potential storage sites were mapped based on existing 3D models, seismic and well data. Static CO2 capacities were calculated for each structure using Monte Carlo simulations with 10,000 iterations to account for uncertainties. All potential reservoirs were evaluated based on their static capacity, burial depth, top seal integrity and trap type. Analysis identified 38 potential storage sites with burial depths between 800 m and 4500 m, reservoir capacities (P50) above 5 Mt CO2 and suitable sealing units. The best storage conditions are expected on the West Schleswig Block where salt-controlled anticlines with moderate burial depths, large reservoir capacities and limited lateral flow barriers are the dominant trap types. Relatively poor storage conditions can be anticipated for small (P50 <5 Mt CO2), deeply buried (> 4500 m) and structurally complex potential storage sites in the Horn and Central Graben. Burial into deep sediment - carbon - annual mean value (1990 - 2000)

Modeled 3D biogeochemical sediment fluxes in the western Baltic Sea from 1990 to 2000 using MOM ERGOM SED. A new 3d sediment model ERGOM SED has been developed in the project SECOS for the western Baltic Sea. The model is documented in Radtke et al. (2019, doi: 10.5194/gmd-12-275-2019). It is an extension of the marine biogeochemical model ERGOM and is coupled to the physical model MOM. Simulation results of an eleven-year period from 1990 to 2000 covering the western Baltic Sea are provided for download. The model grid had a spatial resolution of 3 n.m. and covered the whole Baltic Sea (boundary conditions to North Sea in the Skagerrak). Detailed sediment data were compiled and a detailed validation was performed in the SECOS project for the western Baltic Sea. Hence, only model results of that region are provided. The sediment model was spun up for 240 years on a lower resolution and then run for forty years - whereas full model output was saved only for the last eleven years.

Daten und Fakten: Friedhöfe

In Berlin gibt es insgesamt 222 Friedhöfe mit ca.1.095 ha, was ca. 1 % der Stadtfläche und 10 % des öffentlichen Grüns ausmacht. Während auf insgesamt 182 Friedhöfen (932 ha) bestattet wird, sind 40 Friedhöfe (163 ha) für Bestattungen geschlossen. Darüber hinaus gibt es vier Berliner Friedhöfe im Umland. Das Land Berlin verwaltet im Berliner Stadtgebiet derzeit 85 Friedhöfe mit rund 580 ha. Zwei weitere Friedhöfe befinden sich im Berliner Umland. Die Verwaltung der landeseigenen Friedhöfe nehmen die Grünflächenämter der Bezirke bzw. die entsprechenden Fachbereiche als Bezirksaufgabe selbständig wahr. Die übrigen Friedhöfe werden von konfessionellen Gemeinden bzw. Friedhofsverbänden betrieben. Innerhalb Berlins befinden sich 118 evangelische Friedhöfe mit insgesamt rund 411 ha. Hinzu kommen zwei evangelische Friedhöfe im Umland. Weiterhin gibt es 9 katholische Friedhöfe auf rund 48 ha Friedhofsfläche, 5 jüdische Friedhöfe und 5 Friedhöfe in sonstiger Trägerschaft.

Saarländischer Friedwald

Im saarländischen Urwald - dem 1003 Hektar großen Areal zwischen Netzbach- und Steinbachtal wurde am 21. Januar 2005, der erste saarländische Friedwald eröffnet. Rund 60 Hektar des Urwaldes vor den Toren der Stadt werden künftig als Friedwald-Fläche genutzt. Das Friedwald-Konzept gibt es in Deutschland seit Mitte 2000. Die Bestattung in der Natur wird deutschlandweit von der FriedWald GmbH in Darmstadt angeboten. Gegenwärtig gibt es acht Friedwälder in Deutschland, weitere sind in Planung.
