Bilans des rejets de metaux lourds dans les sediments des affluents du leman (FRA)

Le projet vise a detecter et controler les rejets de metaux lourds dans les affluents du leman, c'est a dire le rhone amont et les autres affluents. La technique repose sur le fait que les metaux lourds sont facilement adsorbes et concentres sur les colloides, notamment sur les argiles qui constituent une grande partie des sediments fluviaux ou lacustres. Cette etude doit se derouler chaque annee. (FRA)

Die Oxidationszustaende des Quecksilbers im Abgas technischer Prozesse

Bei der thermischen Behandlung von Guetern, welche Quecksilber enthalten, gelangt dieses aufgrund seiner Fluechtigkeit groesstenteils in die Gasphase und kann via Abgas in die Umwelt freigesetzt werden. Zur Reduktion der Emissionen dieses toxischen Metalls stehen verschiedene Verfahren zur Verfuegung. Deren Wirksamkeit haengt zum Teil stark davon ab, ob das Quecksilber in elementarer Hg (0)- oder oxidierter Hg (II)-Form vorliegt. Ziel des Projektes ist es, eine Methode zur Messung der verschiedenen Hg-Formen zu evaluieren und in Feldmessungen auszutesten; die Anteile von oxidiertem und elementarem Quecksilber im Abgas verschiedener thermischer Prozesse zu ermitteln; die Wirksamkeit von verschiedenen Minderungstechniken auf die einzelnen Hg-Formen zu untersuchen.

Materialrueckgewinnungsverfahren aus verbrauchten Trockenbatterien (Primaerzellen)

Verbrauchte Trockenbatterien enthalten z.T. giftige Schwermetalle (Hg, Cd ...), muessen daher auf der Sonderdeponie gelagert werden. Das zweistufige, gesamtschweizerische Projekt umfasst: 1. Trennung des Sammelgutes nach Groesse und Inhalt (1983 weitgehend positiv abgeschlossen) 2. Rueckgewinnung des Materials wie MnO2, Zn, Hg, Kunststoffe usw. in wieder verwendbarer Form (z.Z. in Bearbeitung) Ziel: Umweltfreundliche Rueckgewinnung und Wiederverwendung des Werkstoffes zu wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen; d.h. Vermeidung jeglicher Sonderdeponien. Experimentelle Untersuchung und Abklaerung der Aufbereitungsmoeglichkeiten (Labor, Planung ev. Bau einer Versuchsanlage).

Evaluation of occupational exposure to metallic mercury and of its early renal effects

On a small group of workers exposed to relatively weak metallic mercury level, some variations of activity of urinary enzymes, of proteins concentration and of creatinine clearance have been displayed in relation with the level of exposure. Although the values are in the normal range the trend in the above mentionned parameters sign an early damage of the nephron. It should be stressed that this damage is presumably reversible. These results have to be confirmed on a larger scale.

Suspensions dans le Rhone amont; formes et biodisponibilite du phosphore (FRA)

Ce projet cherche a determiner les formes du phosphore apportees par l'affluent principal, qui sont directement assimilables par les algues, ainsi que les flux de mercure et de cadmium. Des echantillons seront preleves six fois chaque annee du plan. Une methode biologique nouvellement mise au point permet d'apprecier les quantites de phosphore directement assimilables par les algues contenues dans les suspensions d'affluents. Cette methode s'appliquera notamment aux suspensions des quatre affluents principaux. Le programme durera deux ans. (FRA)

Zusaetzliche Schwermetall-Richtwerte fuer Chrom, Kobalt, Molybdaen, Quecksilber und Thallium

Fuer die in der Verordnung ueber Schadstoffe im Boden aufgenommenen Schwermetalle Chrom, Kobalt, Molybdaen, Quecksilber und Thallium fehlen bis heute Richtwerte der loeslichen Gehalte. Vordringlich erscheint die Erarbeitung derartiger Werte fuer Chrom und Thallium. Ob auch andere Metalle (bspw. Zinn und Vanadium) in die VSBO aufgenommen werden sollten, bedarf weiterer Abklaerungen (hauptsaechlich Literaturstudien).

Measurement of hand tremor induced by industrial exposure to metallic mercury

Hand tremor due to industrial exposure to metallic mercury vapour was recorded in 26 exposed and 25 non-exposed male workers by an accelerometer attached to the dorsum of the hand. The subjects were instructed to hold the hand and the forearm in the same position first without and then with a load of 1250 g supported by the hand. Analysis of the records showed that the higest peak frequencies (HPF) (the frequency corresponding to the highest acceleration) were higher in the exposed men than in the controls and were related to the duration of exposure to mercury and to age. The changes in HPF between rest and load were again higher in the exposed men than in the controls and again related to the duration of exposure and to age. The second moment (M2) (an index taking into account the whole recorded spectrum) was similar in the exposed men and controls at rest. The changes in M2 between rest and load were higher in the exposed men than in the controls but were related to duration of exposure and to the biological measurements (log of mercury in urine or blood) and not to age. These neurophysiological impairments might result from the tendency of metallic mercury to accumulate in the cerebellum and the basal ganglia. These results are consistent with the hypothesis that metallic mercury, even at concentrations probably below the current TLV-TWA of 0.05 mg/m3, can lead to neurological disorders.

Mercure et art dentaire (FRA)

La manipulation des amalgames dentaires presente-t-elle un risque d'intoxication professionnelle au mercure? Pour tenter de repondre a cette question, nous avons evalue l'exposition d'un groupe de 60 personnes (dentistes et assistants) par le dosage du mercure urinaire. En comparaison avec un groupe temoin (n=23), il ressort que l'exposition au hg du personnel des cabinets dentaires est reelle mais reste dans des limites tout a fait acceptables pour autant que le collectif etudie soit representatif de la profession. Sur la base des reponses fournies dans le questionnaire, il ressort que, parmi les facteurs individuels pouvant influencer le taux de hg urinaire, le parametre 'contact cutane avec l'amalgame' est le seul qui ait montre un effet statistiquement significatif. Quecksilberbestimmungen bei Voegeln, speziell aus dem Kanton Bern

Allgemeiner Teil: Literaturzusammenstellung. Charakterisierung von Hg, sein Vorkommen, natuerlich und als Umweltkontaminante, im Stoffwechsel, Toxizitaet, Vorkommensnachweis bei Voegeln in andern Laendern. Spezieller Teil: Hg-Bestimmungen bei Voegeln (Niere, Leber, Federn, einige Knochen), deren Kadaver waehrend mehrerer Jahre gesammelt und tiefgefroren wurden (hauptsaechlich Kanton Bern). Dazu wurden von der Bernischen Jagdverwaltung total 194 Rabenkraehen, Elstern und Eichelhaeher abgeschossen. Untersuchungsmethode: Flammenlose Atomabsorptions-Spektrometrie.
