The dataset contains information on the European river basin districts, the river basin district sub-units, the surface water bodies and the groundwater bodies delineated for the 2nd River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) as well as the European monitoring sites used for the assessment of the status of the above mentioned surface water bodies and groundwater bodies. The dataset contains information on the European river basin districts, the river basin district sub-units, the surface water bodies and the groundwater bodies delineated for the 1st River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) as well as the European monitoring sites used for the assessment of the status of the abovementioned surface water bodies and groundwater bodies. This data set is available only for internal use of the European Commission and the European Environment Agency. Concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in European agricultural soils, Oct. 2020

This data set contains current nitrogen (N) and critical phosphorus (P) concentrations and their exceedances of the current and required Nitrogen Use Efficiencies (NUE) in Europe. This data set has been compiled by the European Topic Centre on Urban, Land and Soil Systems (ETC/ULS) in the context of a study on metal and nutrient dynamics where the fate and dynamics of the most abundant heavy metals and nutrients in agricultural soils were investigated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impacts of agricultural intensification in Europe, and to understand its environmental impact.

This metadata refers to the vector dataset presenting, for NUTS3 regions, the average travel time to the nearest hospital in 2020, excluding hospitals located in the EEA potential flood-prone areas (https://sdi.eea.europa.eu/catalogue/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/28c36420-c31b-440e-80c5-8064696f3517). The data has been developed by Eurostat to measure how easily basic services can be reached by the resident population, based on spatial analyses of the location of healthcare facilities, combined with the road network and the location of hospitals in the EEA potential flood-prone areas. Note that the accessibility could have been calculated across a national border. The data is included in the European Climate and Health Observatory: https://climate-adapt.eea.europa.eu/observatory. The European Climate and Health Observatory platform provides easy access to a wide range of relevant publications, tools, websites and other resources related to climate change and human health.

The service contains information on the European monitoring sites used for the assessment of the status of surface water bodies and groundwater bodies in the 2nd River Basin Management Plans (RBMP). The information was reported to the European Commission under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) reporting obligations. The dataset compiles the available spatial data related to the 2nd RBMPs due in 2016 (hereafter WFD2016). Not in the WFD] Monitoring point included in a WFD surveillance, operational or investigative monitoring programme. Surface water body: Body of surface water means a discrete and significant element of surface water such as a lake, a reservoir, a stream, river or canal, part of a stream, river or canal, a transitional water or a stretch of coastal water. Surface water: Inland waters, except groundwater; transitional waters and coastal waters, except in respect of chemical status for which it shall also include territorial waters. Groundwater body: 'Body of groundwater' means a distinct volume of groundwater within an aquifer or aquifers. Groundwater: All water which is below the surface of the ground in the saturation zone and in direct contact with the ground or subsoil.

EMEP grids reprojected by EEA

The original EMEP grids have been reprojected into the European standard projection in order to facilitate re-use of EMEP information on air emissions, deposition and critical loads in EEA map products. Organisations responsible for delivering national data to EMEP should always use the grid in polar stereographic projection as provided by EMEP (http://www.emep.int/grid/index.html). EEA has reprojected the grid used by EMEP for analyses on air emissions (150*150 km2 and 50*50 km2 grids covering Europe)
