Grassland intensification by management practices in 2010, Nov. 2016

The dataset shows the percentage of grasslands under high pressure from management practices in 2010. The area percentage is calculated in relation to the total grassland area within NUTS3 regions (NUTS2 for Germany). The management pressure on grassland was calculated by combining information of nitrogen input from the Farm Structure Survey (FSS), the Corine Land Use/Land Cover dataset and other environmental characteristics such as topographic conditions, soil and climate conditions (etc). This dataset is part of the condition/pressures assessments done for agroecosystems under ETC/SIA actions for MAES (Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystem Services).

Cropland intensification by management practices in 2010, Nov. 2016

The dataset shows the percentage of croplands under high pressure from management practices in 2010. The area percentage is calculated in relation to the total cropland area within NUTS3 regions (NUTS2 for Germany). The management pressure on croplands was calculated by combining information of nitrogen input from the Farm Structure Survey (FSS), the Corine Land Use/Land Cover dataset and other environmental characteristics such as topographic conditions, soil and climate conditions (etc). Informationssystem Altbergbau Erze und Spate (ISA-ES)

Informationssystem Altbergbau Erze und Spate zur Dokumentation aller verfügbaren Informationen des Altbergbaus Inhalt: Fachinformationen zu Altbergbauobjekten Erz- und Spatbergbau, Sachdaten zur bergbaulichen Nutzung, Rissdatenbank, DB Vorkommnisse/Schriftgut/Gutachten verwendete Standards: Accessdatenbank, Geometriedaten Formen: Informationssystem

Fachinformationssystem Rohstoffe (FIS RO, LfULG)

FP7-SPACE, Promote air quality services integrating observations development of basic localised information for Europe (PASODOBLE)

Air quality is a crucial environmental factor, e.g. evidenced by the fact that particles in the air are estimated to reduce the lifetime of the average European citizen by 8 months. Assessing and monitoring air quality are thus fundamental to improve Europe s welfare. PASODOBLE will develop and demonstrate user-driven downstream information services for the public, regional and local air quality sectors by combining space-based and in-situ data with models in 4 thematic service lines: - Health community support for hospitals, pharmacies, doctors and people at risk - Public information for regions, cities, tourist industry and sporting event organizers - Compliance monitoring support on particulate matter for regional environmental agencies - Local forecast model evaluation support for local authorities and city bodies. Continuing on the achievements of the ESA GSE PROMOTE project, PASODOBLE will stimulate the development of quality-assured air quality services towards their application market by increasing the implementation efficiency of demonstrated and operational services in the future (new regions, users or parameter combinations, additional service providers). PASODOBLE objectives are: - Evolution of existing and development of new sustainable air quality services for Europe on regional and local scales- Development and testing of a generic service framework for coordinated input data acquisition and customizable user-friendly access to services- Utilization of multiple cycles of delivery, use and assessment versus requirements and market planning in cooperation with users- Promotion and harmonisation of best practise tools for air quality communities. PASODOBLE comprises an initial phase of requirement analysis, service design, development and implementation, followed by 2 annual demonstration and evaluation cycles in which the services and the generic framework with regard to user needs and business planning will be assessed.

Intensification trend of agroecosystems

These datasets represents a measure of intensification (nutrient, mangement pressure and pressure indicator) trend of agroecosystems. The nutrient input is a specific measure related to the intensification processes in the management of cropland and grassland ecosystems. The management pressure on cropland and grassland was calculated by combining information of nitrogen input from the Farm Structure Survey (FSS), the Corine Land Use/Land Cover dataset and other environmental characteristics such as topographic conditions, soil and climate conditions. The trend indicator is the share of cropland or grassland areas affected by internal Land Cover flows between CORINE changes, presented at NUTS3 level.

Regional pilot platform as EU contribution to a global soil observing system (E-SOTER)

Objective: Soil and land information is needed for a wide range of applications but available data are often inaccessible, incomplete, or out of date. GEOSS plans a global Earth Observation System and, within this framework, the e-SOTER project addresses the felt need for a global soil and terrain database. As the European contribution to a Global Soil Observing System, it will deliver a web-based regional pilot platform with data, methodology, and applications, using remote sensing to validate, augment and extend existing data. Technical barriers that have to be overcome include: quantitative mapping of landforms; soil parent material and soil attribute characterization and pattern recognition by remote sensing; standardization of methods and measures of soil attributes to convert legacy data. Two major research thrusts involve: 1) improvement of the current SOTER methodology at scale 1:1 million in four windows in Europe, China and Morocco. Moderate-resolution optical remote sensing will be combined existing parent material/geology and soil information, making use of advanced statistical procedures; 2) within 1:250 000-scale pilot areas, advanced remote sensing applications will be developed - geomorphic landscape analysis, geological re-classified remote sensing, and remote sensing of soil attributes. Advances beyond the state of the art include: transformation of pre-existing data and addition of new information with remote sensing and DEM; interpretations of the e-SOTER database that address threats defined in the EU Soil Thematic Strategy and comparing the results with current assessments; and delivery through a web service of a data portal. e-SOTER will deliver a Pilot Platform and a portal that provides open access to: 1) a methodology to create 1:1 million-scale SOTER databases, and an enhanced soil and terrain database at scale 1:1 million for the four windows; 2) an artifact-free 90m digital elevation model; 3) methodologies to create 1:250 000-scale enhanced SOTER databases, and the databases themselves for four pilots; 4) advanced remote sensing techniques to obtain soil attribute data; 5) validation and uncertainty propagation analysis; 6) dedicated applications related to major threats to soil quality and performance.
