Der Anteil der diffusen Stickstoffbelastung an der Gesamtbelastung der Fließgewässer hat in den zurückliegenden Jahren stetig zugenommen. Wissensdefizite bestehen hinsichtlich der Quantifizierung dieser diffusen Stickstoffbelastungen, was durch die erheblichen Diskrepanzen zwischen den geschätzten Emissionen aus dem Bereich der Landwirtschaft und den gemessenen Immissionen (Frachten in den Fließgewässern) verdeutlicht wird. Bei der Stickstoffverlagerung mit dem Boden- und Grundwasser im Lockergesteinsbereich kommt dem Weg-Zeit-Verfahren eine besondere Rolle zu. Durch das Forschungsvorhaben soll ein experimenteller Nachweis über den Transport und die Umsetzung von Stickstoff über den Sicker- und Grundwasserpfad in das Fließgewässer erbracht werden, um eine verbesserte Prognose über den Verbleib des Stickstoffs bei der Emissions- und Immissionsbetrachtung zu ermöglichen. Auf der Basis detaillierter Stoffein- und Stoffaustragungsuntersuchungen an Lysimetern, Transsekten und Kleineinzugsgebieten soll der Transport und die Umsetzung des Stickstoffs erfaßt werden. Durch die Verbindung von Isotopenhydrologie und mathematischer Prozeßmodellierung soll der Einfluß der maßgeblichen Steuergrößen der N-Verlagerung geklärt und eine flächendifferenzierte Beschreibung der N-Belastung der Fließgewässer durchgeführt werden.
