The main objective of the Action is to improve the quality of information available to policy makers and forest managers on the recreation and tourism benefits of forestry and to increase the cost-effectiveness of techniques for delivering recreation and tourism benefits from forestry. The Action aims specifically to improve knowledge of the benefits to urbanized societies, to improve the understanding of the economic and social impacts of forest recreation and nature tourism in Europe, and to assess its potential as a tool for rural development.
The objectives are grouped into 3 main areas of focus for the COST Action, reflecting different groupings of research, each divided into sub-groups in order to provide more focus on: Economic and social values of forests for recreation and nature tourism Recreation and nature tourism supply and demand, including actual usage. Recreation planning and management.
Das Besucheraufkommen in den Waeldern von Baden-Wuerttemberg ist seit den 60er Jahren staendig gewachsen, die Struktur der Waldbesucher hat sich teilweise geaendert. Im Jahre 1988 sollen neue Grundlagen zur Erholungsdichte und zur Struktur der Erholung in ausgewaehlten Waeldern Baden-Wuerttembergs erhoben werden. Untersucht werden repraesentative Teile des grossstadtnahen Waldes, ausserdem Waelder, in denen die Naherholung aus den Verdichtungsraeumen dominiert, sowie Waldteile, die stark von der Ferienerholung gekennzeichnet sind.
