Erster globaler Atlas der Biodiversität in Binnengewässern online

Am 29. Januar 2014 wurde der erste Online-Atlas zur Biodiversität in Flüssen, Seen und Feuchtgebieten veröffentlicht. Unter Federführung des Leibniz-Instituts für Gewässerökologie und Binnenfischerei (IGB) wurde in enger Zusammenarbeit von zwölf internationalen Forschungsinstitutionen und zahlreichen NGOs eine wissenschaftliche Informationsplattform geschaffen, um den Schutz und das Management von Binnengewässern nachhaltig zu unterstützen. Mit dem globalen Atlas zur biologischen Vielfalt stehen nun verlässliche und empirisch belegte Entscheidungshilfen zur Verfügung. Interessenten aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft erhalten erstmals einen freien, online verfügbaren und interaktiven Zugang zu geografischen Schlüsselinformationen sowie zu Daten über Lebensräume und die aquatische Artenvielfalt. Der Online-Atlas verfügt über eine buchähnliche Struktur, welche die Suche in den vier Kapiteln „Status und Prognose der aquatischen Biodiversität“, „Wasserressourcen und Ökosysteme“, „Belastungen von Binnengewässern“ und „Erhalt und Management der Gewässer“ erleichtert. Alle Karten werden durch ausführliche Hintergrundinformationen ergänzt.

WISE WFD Quality Elements status reported under Water Framework Directive 2016

The service contains information about the ecological status or potential of European surface water bodies, delineated for the 2nd River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) under the Water Framework Directive (WFD). The Quality Element status is the poorest of the known quality element status values per water body. For example, the nutrient conditions status (QE3-1-6) is based on the following two quality elements: Nitrogen conditions (QE3-1-6-1) and Phosphorus conditions (QE3-1-6-2). The dataset contains information on the European river basin districts, the river basin district sub-units, the surface water bodies and the groundwater bodies delineated for the 1st River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) as well as the European monitoring sites used for the assessment of the status of the abovementioned surface water bodies and groundwater bodies. The information was reported to the European Commission under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) reporting obligations. The dataset compiles the available spatial data related to the 1st RBMPs which were due in 2010 (hereafter WFD2010).
