The dataset contains information on the European river basin districts, the river basin district sub-units, the surface water bodies and the groundwater bodies delineated for the 1st River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) as well as the European monitoring sites used for the assessment of the status of the abovementioned surface water bodies and groundwater bodies. This data set is available only for internal use of the European Commission and the European Environment Agency. Ecosystem Engineering: Sediment entrainment and flocculation mediated by microbial produced extracellular polymeric substances (EPS)

Sediment erosion and transport is critical to the ecological and commercial health of aquatic habitats from watershed to sea. There is now a consensus that microorganisms inhabiting the system mediate the erosive response of natural sediments ('ecosystem engineers') along with physicochemical properties. The biological mechanism is through secretion of a microbial organic glue (EPS: extracellular polymeric substances) that enhances binding forces between sediment grains to impact sediment stability and post-entrainment flocculation. The proposed work will elucidate the functional capability of heterotrophic bacteria, cyanobacteria and eukaryotic microalgae for mediating freshwater sediments to influence sediment erosion and transport. The potential and relevance of natural biofilms to provide this important 'ecosystem service' will be investigated for different niches in a freshwater habitat. Thereby, variations of the EPS 'quality' and 'quantity' to influence cohesion within sediments and flocs will be related to shifts in biofilm composition, sediment characteristics (e.g. organic background) and varying abiotic conditions (e.g. light, hydrodynamic regime) in the water body. Thus, the proposed interdisciplinary work will contribute to a conceptual understanding of microbial sediment engineering that represents an important ecosystem function in freshwater habitats. The research has wide implications for the water framework directive and sediment management strategies.

The service contains information on the European monitoring sites used for the assessment of the status of surface water bodies and groundwater bodies in the 2nd River Basin Management Plans (RBMP). The information was reported to the European Commission under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) reporting obligations. The dataset compiles the available spatial data related to the 2nd RBMPs due in 2016 (hereafter WFD2016). Not in the WFD] Monitoring point included in a WFD surveillance, operational or investigative monitoring programme. Surface water: Inland waters, except groundwater; transitional waters and coastal waters, except in respect of chemical status for which it shall also include territorial waters. Hydrogeologische Räume und Teilräume bezogen auf die oberflächennahen Wasserleiter

Hydrogeologische Räume sind Bereiche mit ähnlichen hydrogeologischen Eigenschaften. Dazu werden hydrogeologisch relevante Einheiten mit ähnlichen Gesteinseigenschaften und ähnlichem Schichtaufbau zusammenzufasst und gegeneinander abgegrenzt. Die Karte zeigt die hydrogeologische Räume und Teilräume Schleswig-Holsteins bezogen auf die oberflächennahen Wasserleiter.

Forschungskatamaran KLIMAKAT

Zur Untersuchung von ökologischen Folgen von klimabedingten Änderungen im Stoffhaushalt und Biozönosen von Seen wird für das Jahr 2013 ein Forschungsgroßgerät beantragt, das aus einem Forschungskatamaran besteht, ausgestattet mit zusätzlichen Probenahme, Analyse- und Messeinrichtungen. Die Investition ist langfristig einsetzbar und erfüllt damit eine wichtige Voraussetzung für Klimafolgenforschung. Die Gewässer Berlin/Brandenburgs waren und sind einem starken Wandel unterzogen und werden die Ziele der Wasserrahmenrichtlinie in vielen Fällen nicht erreichen. Der erwartete Klimawandel wird nach jetzigem Kenntnisstand den Eintrag von Nährstoffen erhöhen, weil durch Wasserstandsschwankungen und/oder durch pulsartige Nährstoffeinträge bei Starkniederschlägen die Transporte für Stoffe aus dem Einzugsgebiet intensiviert werden. Der Katamaran soll als mobile und stationäre Arbeitsplattform insbes. für ereignisbezogene Kurzzeitmessungen von Stoffeinträgen nach Extremwetterereignissen, die kontinuierliche Registrierung der Ausdehnung von Thermokline und Hypolimnion und quantitative Erfassung von Nährstoffrücklösungen und --einmischungen ins Epilimnion, für Kurzzeiterfassung von Spätwinter- bzw. Frühjahrsentwicklungen und Sukzessionen im Phytoplankton, von metalimnischen Einschichtungen sowie Cyanobakterienblüten eingesetzt werden. Durch seinen geringen Tiefgang ist der KLIMAKAT hervorragend für die geplanten Untersuchungen im Litoral sowie die Betreuung von Enclosure- und Exclosure-Experimenten geeignet.

Nds. Landschaftsprogramm (Karte 2): Laich- und Aufwuchsgewässer und überregionale Wanderrouten für die Fischfauna gemäß WRRL

Der Datensatz aus Karte 2 des Niedersächsischen Landschaftsprogramms enthält die für die Wasserrahmenrichtlinie (WRRL) relevanten Laich- und Aufwuchsgewässer sowie die überregionalen Wanderrouten der Flussgebiete Elbe, Ems, Vechte und Weser, die zu den landesweit bedeutsamen Gewässern gehören. Karte 2 „Schutzgüter Boden und Wasser“ des Landschaftsprogramms stellt die aus landesweiter Sicht bedeutsamen Bereiche für die Schutzgüter Boden und Wasser dar. Die schutzwürdigen Böden außerhalb der Siedlungsfläche umfassen die Böden mit besonderen Werten, Böden mit hoher natürlicher Bodenfruchtbarkeit sowie Moorböden und kohlenstoffreiche Böden gemäß Programm Nds. Moorlandschaften. Die landesweit bedeutsamen Gewässer setzen sich aus den Fließgewässern für die Umsetzung der Wasserrahmenrichtlinie, den Laich- und Aufwuchsgewässern, den überregionalen Wanderrouten für die Fischfauna, den Küsten-, Übergangs- und Stillgewässern sowie den Gewässerauen gemäß Aktionsprogramm Nds.
