Update of the Heat Flow Database in Türkiye

The Turkey heat flow database includes several research articles obtained from the catalogue of The Global Heat Flow Data Assessment Project conducted by the International Heat Flow Commission (IHFC; www.ihfc-iugg.org). The presented database contains 725 heat-flow determinations compiled from 9 different publications generated between 1991-2023 reported within Turkey. For the reporting and sorting of the database, the structure documented by Fuchs et al. (2023) is followed. Within this dataset, 98% of the entries represent continental heat-flow data (onshore), while the remaining 2% correspond to marine data (offshore). 88% of the reported heat flow values were obtained via direct temperature measurements, while the remaining data (12%) were estimated from indirect Curie depth temperature calculations.

Bericht zum Bohrlochtemperatur-Logging und zu Messungen thermisch-hydraulischer Gesteinskennwerte an Bohrkernen für die Geothermiebohrungen Gt Schwerin 6/17 und Gt Schwerin 7/20 (Schwerin, MV)

This report summarizes the measurements carried out by the GFZ Potsdam on the boreholes Gt S 6/17 and Gt S 7/20 in Schwerin (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). The first part of the report describes the borehole measurements of the unperturbed temperature profiles. The second part describes the compilation of the thermal-hydraulic rock properties (thermal conductivity, porosity, permeability, density, etc.) measured on drill-core material. The shut-in time since the drilling is around 4 years for Gt S 6/17 and around 21 months for Gt S 7/20. Hence, unperturbed borehole temperatures are assumed at the time of temperature logging.

Clumped isotope measurements of Early Cretaceous belemnites across latitudes

Here, we present the results of the clumped isotope measurements on 20 Early Cretaceous (Valanginian) belemnites. Further, we provide the results of the equilibrated gases and the carbonate reference material that were measured along with the samples. Carbonate digestion at 90 °C and subsequent CO2 purification was performed on an automated line connected to a ThermoFisher MAT 253 isotope ratio mass spectrometer. The data is projected to the Carbon Dioxide Equilibrium Scale (CDES) and presented without an acid fractionation factor applied. Further details on the sample material, sample preparation method, and mass spectrometry procedures can be found in the associated files and the linked article: Price et al. (2020).

Snow depth and sea ice thickness derived from the FMI02 SIMBA buoy's environmental temperature (SIMBA_ET) measurements

The Snow and Ice Mass Balance Array (SIMBA) is a thermistor string type IMB (Jackson et al., 2013) that measures the environment temperature SIMBA-ET and temperature change (SIMBA-HT) after an identical heating element is applied to each sensor. This SIMBA (FMI02) was deployed in the high Arctic during the Polarstern Arctic cruise (ARK-XXVII/3) on 22, September 2012. The SIMBA thermistor chain is 4.8 m long and equipped with 240 thermistors at 0.02 m spacing. Snow depth and ice thickness were derived manually by investigating the SIMBA_ET vertical temperature profiles. This SIMBA was deployed on 22 Sep 2012 at 15:15 UTC. The initial position was Latitude: 88.81287 N Longitude: 57.53883 E. The initial ice thickness was 1.44 m; Freeboard was 0.21 m and the snow depth was 0.03 m. The submitted data package includes 3 data files, i.e., SIMBA GPS position; SIMBA snow depth and ice thickness and SIMBA environmental temperature (SIMBA_ET).
