Informationssystem 'Schnee und Lawinen in den Schweizer Alpen' (FP 104)

Das Institut betreibt seit 50 Jahren ein Messnetz mit rund 100 Stationen in den Schweizer Alpen. Taeglich werden nivologische Parameter erhoben (Neuschnee, Wasserwert, Totalschnee, Temperaturen, Oberflaechenstrukturen, Lawinen). Seit Mai 1989 ist ein umfassendes Informationssystem im Aufbau. Fuer die operationelle Lawinenwarnung existieren Hilfsprogramme, Warnmodelle mit Expertencharakter sind im Test. Klimatologische Auszuege (Extremwertstatistiken ueber maximale Schneehoehen, Schneesicherheiten usw.) ermoeglichen das Relativieren von Einzelereignissen. Das System laeuft gegenwaertig nur unter der institutsinternen EDV-Struktur. Das Institut ist bereit, Daten und Programme auch Dritten zur Verfuegung zu stellen. Im Projekt sollen dabei die neuen Medien und Kommunikationstechniken zur Anwendung gelangen. Ziele: - EDV-Unterstuetzung mit Hilfe eines Informationssystems bei der operationellen Lawinenwarnung und bei der Auskunftserteilung ueber Schnee, - Modernisierung des Zugriffs auf Archivdaten, - Aufbau eines Geographischen Informationssystems (GIS) unter ArcInfo (Mitarbeit IENU). Neben dem Winterbericht (Annalen) soll der Interessierte auch Zugriff zur Datenbasis bekommen, - Bereitstellen von periodisch erneuerten Klimatabellen (Extremwertstatistiken), - Bereitstellen von Zusatzprodukten zum Lawinenbulletin (Regionale Daten, Datenbox etc.).
